INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK IN ALABAMA - PROCLAMATIONS

Thanks to the amazing efforts of AAIE Chair, Dr. Sharron Herron-Williams of Alabama State University, we are pleased to share a proclamation from Governor Bentley’s Office in recognition of International Education Week, November 16-20, 2015.

Furthermore, AAIE has secured proclamations from the Mayors of Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Troy, and Huntsville.

According to the Open Doors Report produced by the International Educational Exchange (IIE), there are nearly 7500 international students enrolled in higher education in the State of Alabama, and more than 2600 domestic students from Alabama institutions study abroad each year.

Events are being planned all around the state and members of the Alabama Association of International Educators are actively involved in these efforts. For more information on International Education Week, please see http://eca.state.gov/programs-initiatives/international-education-week and Alabama’s IEW events can be found here: http://eca.state.gov/programs-initiatives/international-education-week/iew-events-2015?term_node_tid_depth=All&field_iew_evt_country_tid_1=1941&field_field_iew_evt_virtual_value=0.

On Monday, November 16, IIE will release updated data on the states here: http://www.iie.org/Research-and-Publications/Open-Doors/Data/Fact-Sheets-by-US-State.

Thank you all for everything that you do to internationalize Alabama!
